The Production Process & Techniques
Batik is an old Javanese tradition of dying textiles with hot wax. It is a so called reverse technique, as one blocks the parts one doesn't want to colour. The process of applying the wax is done by hand. Batik has a mysterious element making the outcome different every time; the result is, an unique product. To stress this, every item has been given an individual number.
Batik can be applied on soft hand woven cashmere, or on hand woven pattern in the silk, or on linen, or cotton. Each time creating something different. The various ingredients; texture, touch, colour, motive makes it special and has individual beauty. It also makes it a challenging journey of new discoveries for all those involved in the production of DEDEM.
